Mark Hale is the Australian Industry Group's Illawarra apprentice/trainee of the year.

An apprentice electrical fitter-mechanic with BHP Oil and Gas Pipe, Kembla Grange, Mark won from a strong field of entrants, six of whom were selected as award finalists.

Recently married, Mark will complete his apprenticeship in January and will then become part of the small crew of electricians who are rostered across three shifts to handle installations and breakdowns at BHP's oil and gas pipeline manufacturing plant.

Mark received his award at the recent Australian Industry Group's regional dinner attended by 300 guests. Other finalists were Bradley Sheridan, Richard Oudejans, Glynn Catt, Lincoln Steel, and Shane Wilkshire.
